Master the dark art of making chocolate

The only thing more satisfying than devouring a box of luxury Belgian truffles is knowing that you’ve made those glorious morsels with your own bare hands. And crafting the perfect chocolate starts with understanding a little of the science before diving in to apply the skills, learn from your mistakes and eat the evidence, of course. Chocolate School caters for every day chocolate lovers, serious foodies and professional chefs alike. Chocolate making classes are held at our premises in Montville in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland. If you’re visiting us from afar, there is a range of accommodation options in the area.

What to expect

All Chocolate School students craft their very own chocolate creations under the expert tuition of master chocolatier Julie Walters. Our two-hour workshops are a fun, creative experience where we get hands-on using various quality ingredients to master the art of mixing and smoothing, dipping and decorating with the milk, dark and white chocolate. Short and sweet, these workshops are ideal for teen birthday parties, hens parties, groups of friends, mothers and daughters and team bonding for business. Expect to leave your chocolate making lesson with your handmade treat (unless you’ve already eaten it) and a headful of new knowledge and skills to impress your family and friends.

Take those skills up a notch with the four-hour Tempering & Truffles workshop which covers the more technical aspects of chocolate making for those wanting to apply a chocolatier’s touch. Learn the different types of chocolate in the appreciation session and understand the science behind why we temper chocolate and how to do it. Test your knowledge by applying your skills to making chocolate ganache, pralines, moulded, dipped, rolled and decorations.

Chocolate making is perceived to be a dark art, but our workshops aim to demystify the process. Almost anything is possible with chocolate, when you know how.

Class sizes are limited to 8 people and can be enjoyed as an individual or with friends. No previous knowledge or chocolate making experience is necessary. The skill level is suitable for teenagers through to adults.
